Voorheen De Gemeente (VHDG) is an art initiative based in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, that stands for new, exciting and uncompromising forms of contemporary art. We offer emerging artists a dynamic context for experiment, artistic development and production of new work. We actively seek ways to present art that connect with everyday life. Through our artist-in-residence, exhibitions in our own gallery space, and through nomadic and international projects, we encourage artists and audience to engage in conversation.
