Tengri-Umai Gallery

103 Panfilov Str. Almaty KZ

Founded in 1992, Tengri-Umai Contemporary Art Gallery was one of the first private art galleries in Kazakhstan. Its history is closely related to the newest history of Kazakh art.

From the very beginning the gallery worked not only on development of the national art market, but also aimed to be a new cultural centre open for new ideas and multidisciplinary activities.
It has been closely collaborating with both local and international cultural institutions. The gallery implemented joint projects with the ifa, British Council, Goethe-Institute, French Institute Alliance Française, worked with the Kasteyev State Museum of Arts, the Kazakh National Academy of Arts etc.
We represent major Kazakh artists as well as emerging contemporary artists from Kazakhstan and abroad and work on the development of the regional cultural environment.

In May 2007 the gallery moved into a new space located in the city centre, in Almaty Arbat.
