Gallery White is a non-profit project (2 venues) founded by Anton Belov, current director of the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture. The first venue was opened in October 2010 and is located at the Winzavod Art Center. The format is unique for Moscow: Gallery White is a tiny exhibition space in a shop window (1,5 square meters) next door to the commercial gallery Photographer.ru. The gallery launched the second venue in a format of a typical white cube (74 square meters) in April 2011. Gallery White creates a territory free from art-market regulations and aims to provide young artists and curators with a testing ground to explore new practices and ideas no matter how bold they are. This exhibition strategy is a rare example on the Russian art scene, which usually produces rather art commodity than art thinking.
