Dual Existence replaces that which has been temporarily lost; gallery walls have given way to URLs and live streams, and personal devices are now doorways to live performances.
Over 12 weeks, 12 artists will occupy @dualexistence, each considering the relationship between performance art and online spaces. What does it mean to stream from, and perform in, private spaces? How do we remove ourselves from, or feed into, the performativity of online spaces? How are bodies framed on social media and in performance art?
Outcomes from each residency will be exhibited here as the weeks progress.
Dual Existence is run by Kate Stodart, who works from the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nations. The deepest respects are given to their Elders past, present, emerging and yet to come, and this is extended to all First Nations peoples.
