Founded by James Voorhies, Bureau for Open Culture is a non-profit curatorial and artistic initiative that utilizes exhibition, education, design, communication and publishing to position the art institution as an overall form of critical practice. Bureau for Open Culture is itinerant. Its work is made possible with support from museums, academies, bookstores, businesses and foundations in the fields of visual and performing arts. The work transpires with particular attention to education and critical thinking in relation to renewed intersections between the spectator and the art institution. Bureau for Open Culture applies expanded approaches to exhibition and collaborates with individuals from various backgrounds and disciplines.
