Brown Mountain Diamond is an experimental artist-run art space in deep rural Ireland. We are homed in a small farm complex with farmhouse, outbuildings, barn, yards and fields. We support diverse forms of art making, from visual to sound, through a series of projects, residencies and events. We are committed to supporting artists in the production of high quality progressive works and offering residential studios and workshop spaces to artists for the realisation of ambitious artworks. The project is founded, owned and operated by visual artist Carl Giffney. Carl Giffney’s work as a visual artist investigates social capital through empirical and performative research, carrying out activities like mining, beekeeping and modifying cars. He works in eclectic settings which have ranged from sea horse farms, to churches to motorways. Physical materials play very important roles in his socially engaged practice.
Brown Mountain Diamond is many people, and already many things, and it relies on an ongoing stream of input and output. If you would like to contribute in any way at all feel free to make contact.
